What's for Breakfast?

A Dunshee breakfast souffle with fresh fruit

Start the day right with a great Dunshee breakfast: fresh, thoughtful, and delicious. Using the finest ingredients from local markets and the garden, Susan’s dishes reflect 30 years of refining recipes from family, friends, and Bon Appetit and Gourmet. Susan is flexible and generous with her cooking, happy to accommodate special diets and share recipes.

Being in the suite is like having your own private chef as Susan presents your gourmet breakfast at the harvest table in your living room or, in warm weather, on the charming portale overlooking the garden. One morning might be a green chile cheese soufflé, papaya with raspberry puree, apple muffins and sourdough toast. The next morning might be sour cream buttermilk crepe pancakes with warm maple syrup, bacon and broiled grapefruit with nutmeg. Great coffee and fresh-squeezed juice round out the different daily offerings. There are no strict breakfast hours so if you have an early plane to catch or know you need to sleep in, no problem!

From the guest book:

"The most extraordinary breakfasts! I’ll remember them forever" Martha from Elkins Park, PA

"Can’t say enough about the delicious breakfasts, which set the tone for each day uniquely." Sherry from Winston-Salem

"The breakfasts were the best I have ever had, anywhere...every single one of them. I dream about those lacy pancakes and the fluffy, light-as-a-cloud souffle in particular. But then there was the French toast and the eggs....the fruit, the muffins... OH MY, what a plenitude of gustatory delights! And the conversation was the perfect condiment to go with the delicious flavors." Jerry and Pamela from Carmel Valley, CA

Guests in the casita find the kitchen generously stocked for a healthy, serve-yourself breakfast. Begin with homemade granola, yogurt, and fresh fruit like strawberries and blueberries, or honeydew melon balls with ginger and mint. Complement these goodies with Sage Bakery sourdough bread and a selection of homemade muffins, like cranberry/maple or pumpkin/chocolate chip. Complete your breakfast with gourmet coffee and teas and fresh juice. Guests are free to eat whenever they want, wherever they want, at the kitchen table or on the patio under the big cottonwood tree. For guests on the nightly rate, the breakfast supplies are replenished daily with different fruits and muffins. For those on the weekly rate, the breakfast supplies last several days.
